Elma Tiki: Delivering Quality at Coca-Cola

"Be your authentic self—have confidence in yourself, know your purpose, and pursue it." These words sum up the inspiring journey of Elma Tobias Tiki at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP). Her story is an example of how passion, determination, and a supportive workplace can lead to growth and achievement. She hails from the Morobe and Hela province and is a working mum. She shares two beautiful children, a 6-year old and 8-year old with her husband Tom Tiki. Elma’s career progress demonstrates that with the right mindset, anything is possible.

From Science to Quality Control: A Solid Foundation

Elma's professional journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science and Technology from the University of Technology, graduating in 2013. Her early career as a laboratory technician at the Institute of Medical Research in Goroka laid a strong foundation for her expertise in scientific research and quality control. When she joined CCEP on 4th April, 2017, Elma brought with her knowledge and passion for upholding the highest standards in the industry.

 Reflecting her transition, Elma said, "My education and early experiences equipped me with the skills necessary for a career in quality management. Moving from medical research to a global beverage company allowed me to apply my knowledge in new and exciting ways."

Milestones and Career Development

Elma’s career at CCEP has progressed and one of the highlights was her promotion to Quality Control Manager for the Port Moresby plant. This role has allowed her to make an impact on the company’s operations and quality standards. Also, she had the opportunity to travel to Indonesia for specialised training in Bottle Sensory, earning her Training of Trainers Certification. This experience not only increased her technical skills but also broadened her understanding of quality and food safety management systems in the beverage industry.

 "Being promoted to Quality Control Manager and participating in this international training have been pivotal in my career. CCEP's commitment to employee development, especially for women, has been instrumental in my growth," Elma shares. Her journey is a testament to CCEP's dedication to fostering leadership and technical expertise among its staff.

She was also privileged to be part of a six-month women executive leadership program, facilitated by Executive Central aimed to foster the growth and advancement of women within the company. CCEP remains dedicated to empowering women in leadership.

Navigating Challenges and Embracing Learning Opportunities

 Working in a traditionally male-dominated environment has its challenges, but Elma approaches them with resilience and a positive attitude. "It's challenging, but I firmly believe that anything is possible with determination and self-awareness. Understanding myself and others around me has been key to navigating this space," she explains.

 Elma's participation in the CCEP middle managers training and the women’s leadership program has been invaluable in aiding her professional development. She appreciates these initiatives, mentioning, "I'm grateful that CCEP invests in nurturing employee capabilities, especially for women. It's empowering to know that the company values our contributions and supports our growth."

 Passion and Purpose: The Drive Behind Her Work

 Elma’s motivation to excel at CCEP comes from a deep sense of passion and purpose. "I believe that understanding the value I create for myself, my family, my colleagues, and the business drives my dedication and enthusiasm for my work," she says. As the leader of a seven-member Quality team, Elma is committed to maintaining high standards and fostering a collaborative environment.

 Looking ahead, Elma is excited to continue her professional journey within CCEP. "In the next five years, I see myself progressing into supply chain management and paving the way for other women to build their careers in this field," she shares. Her ambition and dedication to challenging the status quo reflects the inclusive culture at CCEP, where employees are challenged to be the best version of themselves and reach their full potential.
