We recently published our annual Integrated Report, demonstrating CCEP’s progress in 2023. Our success is down to the 42,000 talented people across 31 markets who make, move and sell our great products. We want CCEP to be a great, engaging place to work, where everyone is welcome, has the opportunity to grow and can make a difference.
The safety and wellbeing of our people always come first.
We made good progress on safety with our group total incident rate, a measure of workplace safety, at 0.84 – but zero is what we’re striving for and that’s how we are promoting our safety culture in the workplace. We continue to work towards world class safety standards and our Health, Safety and Mental Wellbeing policy is helping us adopt best practices.
Last year, around 1,400 people benefited from our Employee Assistance Programme, an independent service offering 24/7 free professional support with access to face to face or telephone counselling, advice or specialist information.
By the end of 2023, we had trained more than 1,250 Wellbeing First Aiders. These colleagues are an internal network for mental health support, trained to spot the signs of mental health conditions and direct colleagues to professional services when needed.
Inclusion, diversity and equity
Building a workforce that represents the communities we serve will help us refresh our consumers and customers, and make a difference. Last year, we expanded and made progress against our diversity commitments for gender balance, disability and social mobility.
Rewards and benefits
An important part of creating value for our people is through rewards and benefits. Around 70% of our employees participate in annual variable remuneration plans, including annual bonus, sales incentive plans, and local incentive plans.
In 2022, we launched the new global Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP). For every share an employee purchases, CCEP will provide a matching share, up to an agreed limit. Around 43% and 75% of eligible employees were participating in the global ESPP and Great Britain share plan (employees to become shareholders through salary sacrifice arrangement), respectively, on 31 December 2023.
Supporting and engaging our people
We want our people to enjoy a great experience at CCEP and feel engaged with our business aims and strategy. We received a high engagement rate from our employees in our annual engagement survey - our score is above global benchmark and shows our people's passion for our brands and our workplace.
We continue to invest in learning and development through our strategy, The Way We Grow, as we believe that when our people learn and grow, our business grows, too.
Supporting local communities
Our total community investment contribution in 2023 was €14.8 million, demonstrating our passion and commitment to support the communities where we operate. This investment has helped protect the local environment, support social and economic mobility, and seen us work with local partnerships and charitable organisations.
We empower our employees to take action for the environment and engage with their local communities, with 32,500 hours volunteered by our people in 2023 – up from 28,500 in 2022.
Our employees can nominate local charities to receive a donation from our Support My Cause initiative. Since 2019, we have donated €1.2 million to 200 local charities and community groups, and over €400,000 to support 125 grassroots charitable and community partnerships located close to our sites in 2023.
We’re determined to drive the economic empowerment of under-represented people and in 2023 supported the skills development of 16,400 people facing barriers in the labour market. By 2030 we want this to be 500,000.
Employer recognition
We are proud that the progress we have made to make CCEP a great place to work is being recognised, winning awards at a global and national level, including:
Our focus this year
In 2024, we will continue to prioritise our people’s physical and mental wellbeing, and provide an inclusive, safe and healthy work environment. We will invest further in developing our people and our digital people platforms to create a consistent experience. We will also continue to create a positive social impact that genuinely improves the lives of millions of people in our communities.
